Increasingly the practice are receiving requests from patients who have been treated privately and then have asked us to take over their care, particularly with regards to private prescriptions.
Unfortunately in these circumstances, GPs are not in a position to provide these prescriptions. These prescriptions are often for medications which are not prescribed in primary care, and should be overseen by a secondary care specialist who is an expert in this field and area of medicine.
Therefore, private prescriptions should continue to be issued by your private provider and any monitoring (blood tests etc) done and analysed by them, to ensure you are receiving the best care.
