PATIENTS AGED 12-15 YEARS OF AGE – CONSENT FOR MEDICAL RECORDS

In Scotland, under the GDPR Guidelines, a young person who has reached the age of 12 can be deemed competent to provide consent on his or her own behalf and exercise their own data subject rights.

It is important to us that our younger patients know their rights regarding their own medical records. In the coming months the surgery will be contacting patients aged 12-15 with the option to grant consent for his or her parent/guardian to access personal health information on their behalf.

Best wishes,

MMG
